Greenland is the largest island and one of the most remote places in the world. With only 57,000 inhabitants it has the lowest population density of all countries on earth. Although most of Greenland is covered by an ice sheet (the second largest in the world, after Antarctica), the coastal areas offer amazing opportunities for outdoor adventures. I have visited south Greenland several times, sailing into the deep fjords, hiking the valleys and climbing the mountains. Greenland is a photographer’s paradise, with pristine wilderness scenery in every direction. With vertical granite walls rising 6,000 feet above the sea, varied wildflowers and an abundance of icebergs, Greenland has an extremely diverse landscape.
